CasparFest
Dear friends,
We wanted to let you know that The Mendocino Trail Stewards will have a booth at this year’s Caspar Fest.
Please drop by to say “hi” and find out the latest in our effort to change the management priorities of Jackson Demonstration State Forest towards restoration and away from commercial logging. We’ll have copies of our book, This Gem of a Forest, and plenty of hats, shirts, and other swag. Hope to see you there!
Here are the details:
SCHEDULE
Noon Gates open
1:30 Dixieland Explosion
3:00 Queer Country
4:30 La Onda
6:00 Mama Grow Funk
The Caspar Community will be hosting their annual summer party on July 8 on the grounds of the Caspar Community Center from noon to 8:00 PM. CasparFest will feature local bands, dancing, over 30 vendors and non-profit booths, great food, a bar, and children’s activities. The local musical line-up includes hot jazz and swing by The Dixieland Explosion, salsa and Latin jazz by La Onda, alternative country with Queer Country, and the high-powered soul, funk and R&B of Mama Grows Funk.
Dalen and the Caspar kitchen crew will be crafting lunch and dinner options all day, and our soon-to-be-famous margaritas are sure to please. A cupcake walk to live music takes place around 3:00, and the local indigenous women-led non-profit, Xa Kako Dile, will offer kids’ activities throughout the day.
There is a $20 suggested donation for entry, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Please leave your 4-legged companions at home.
We are in need of lots of volunteers. If you would like to help, contact Ariana Bayer ariana.bayer@gmail.com.
