Guided Group Walks, Rides, & Clean-Up Days

Join us for small-group rides, forest clean-ups, and walks with knowledgeable locals. Outings will combine fun, camaraderie, and scenery with ecology, biology, mycology and the philosophy of human coexistence with the natural world. Some will be in-depth examinations of forest practices. Difficulty will vary from easy to strenuous, with some appropriate for younger people. We will continue our tradition of cleaning up the forest roads and trails. See individual descriptions below for more information—once we have a schedule….

Stay tuned for our inaugural group walk, probably the first weekend in January.

Jackson’s 78 square miles are not pristine, but they are unique and recovering. Rated by the Global Deal for Nature as GAP 3 lands, meaning high biodiversity, low level of protection, some areas are stunningly rich and breathtaking, while others have been strikingly mistreated. To really understand this place, one must spend years exploring these woods. Volunteer trip leaders are offering their knowledge and experience to help you see places you won’t easily find on your own.
